With national champions such as Glenrose Xaba, Elroy Gelant, Kabelo Mulaudzi and Precious Mashele having recommitted to the club for another season alongside perennial podium finishers Lebo and Lebogang Phalula, Gladwin Mzazi, Boxer Athletics Club has announced the signing of two up and coming 10km stars. 2022 SA 10km champions Andries Sesedi has traded the green of Nedbank for the red of Boxer.

"We are immensely proud that all our existing Boxer AC athletes have chosen to re-sign with the club for 2025. Andries Sesedi, an SA 10km champion, has been part of our plans for the past two years, and we are thrilled to have him officially on board. We are excited to welcome these exceptionally talented athletes to Boxer AC and look forward to a fruitful partnership that benefits both the athletes and the club," said National Manager Rhyn Swanepoel.

Another newcomer to the Boxer roster this season is Karabo Motsoeneng. The 22-year-old who wore the green and gold at the World U20 Athletics Championships in 2022 has started to show improvement in her 10km form since joining Violet and Caster Semenya's training group last year. Training alongside fellow Boxer athletes Glenrose Xaba and Karabo More, Motsoeneng produced a personal best 35:52 to grab seventh position at the Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K.

"I want to thank coach Violet and Caster because they believed in me," she explained. "In 2023 I was struggling with injury and I lacked motivation. But with the training that they gave me and the love that they gave me, it made a difference to my life. The group has strong athletes and they believe in themselves. They make us think positive. My performance has been improving because they give me everything they can. It gave me that motivation that I should not give up on my dreams. I just want to thank God," said the reigning SA U23 5000m champion.

Sesedi and Motsoeneng join a club that currently boasts a membership of almost 500 athletes and has set the ambitious target of reaching 1,000 athletes by the end of 2025. Swanepoel has no doubt in his mind that his goal is achievable, explaining just why the red army has become the most sought-after home for South Africa's 21km and 10km specialists.

"Our primary goal for 2025 is to continue, excelling across cross-country, track & field, 5km, 10km, 21km, and marathon events. At Boxer AC, we operate on straightforward yet impactful principles ensuring the small but crucial details are handled with the utmost professionalism. This includes seamless travel arrangements, comfortable accommodations, and the punctual payment of monthly retainers and incentives. We also prioritize providing unwavering support to our athletes during challenges, whether it's overcoming injuries, regaining form, or addressing personal issues. This commitment has fostered remarkable loyalty, with athletes staying with us for impressive durations—Tanith Maxwell for 16 years, Elroy Gelant for 9 years, Lebo and Lebogang Phalula for 10 years, Gladwin Mzazi for 9 years, Precious Mashele for 7 years, Kabelo Mulaudzi for 7 years, and Cornelia Joubert for 10 years."
