"I have something special in my legs" - Xaba eyes PB on fast Absa MANGAUNG 10K course
The model of consistency in the 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series, Glenrose Xaba has her sights set on a new personal best at the at the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY MANGAUNG 10K on Sunday, 25 October 2026. The SA Marathon record holder (2:22:22), took third position (32:13) at the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K and second (31:38) at the Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K in August, in what was the third fastest time of her career.
And after clocking 31:16 to win the SPAR Women’s Challenge in Gqeberha on 26 September and 15:29 in a magnificent solo run at the Boxer Super Run Durban 5k last Sunday, the 31-year-old feels that she could go beyond her 31:12 lifetime best and deliver something special on the fast Absa RUN YOUR CITY MANGAUNG 10K course on 25 October.

"I think I can run well," Xaba proudly states. "I'm planning to run a good time because I heard that Mangaung is very flat. If the course is very fast and flat, then I think I can even run a PB. The time I ran at the Boxer Super Run 5k when I was running alone shows me that my legs are ready to produce something special."
"It's exciting to see Glenrose continue to raise the bar in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series and she has a real opportunity to challenge her personal best in Mangaung," says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. "Her ambitions add another exciting dimension to what promises to be a fantastic race. As we bring the series to Mangaung for the first time, we're looking forward to seeing our elite athletes deliver a nail-biting contest and to welcoming runners and supporters to be part of this special occasion."
