Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD increases entry cap for 2027 race

After an outcry from many runners who were unable to secure an entry for the 2026 edition of the race, organisers of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD have announced that an additional 11 000 runners will be able to take place in the 21km and 56km races on Saturday 3 April and Sunday 4 April next year.

Taking place from 31 March to 04 April 2027, the enhanced Event Week programme - featuring a Night Run, International Friendship Run, Trail Run, Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon which brings down the curtain on the weekend of running festivities.

Wade Bromfield, Event Director of the Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD, said the 2027 edition represents an exciting step forward for the event, with significantly increased capacity and a decision to stage the ultra marathon after the half marathon and not the other way around as it happened in 2026.

"The 2027 Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD represents a major milestone for the event, with increased capacity allowing even more runners to be part of this iconic experience. The Totalsports TWO OCEANS HALF MARATHON powered by BYD will now grow from 17 000 to 21 000 participants, while the Totalsports TWO OCEANS ULTRA MARATHON powered by BYD will increase from 14 000 to 21 000 participants, opening the door for thousands more athletes to share in the magic of the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon."
