Following twelve months of unprecedented success that saw her win an SA title, a Diamond League race, reach a maiden Olympic final and win gold at the World Indoor Championships, Prudence Sekgodišo has signed on as MultiChoice as their newest ambassador. South Africa’s 800m queen who is also the only SA woman to dip under 2 minutes indoors, will serve as one of the faces of Africa's premier sports broadcaster, reinforcing MultiChoice and SuperSport’s commitment to showcasing and supporting world-class African athletes.

"Prudence represents the heart and soul of South African athletics – a fearless competitor, a relentless achiever, and a role model for aspiring athletes across the continent. With the support she will now enjoy, the 23-year-old will be able to amongst others, travel with some members of her team to the major championships - a privilege which missed at #Paris2024 when he coach Samuel Sepeng was forced to remain in the country. Speaking after winning the gold medal in Nanjing, China where she had her coach with her, Sekgodišo who is the holder of a 1:57.26 outdoor personal best, says the long term goal is to get within touching distance of Caster Semenya’s 1:54.25 national record on the way to her first World Championships podium finish.

"This was just indoors. I think when it comes to outdoors, I'm gonna do better. The plan is to run 1:55 by the end of the year. I'm just gonna go back to my training. Everything will come together. I think I’m gonna run that time. I believe so. My ultimate goal this year is to try and medal at the World Outdoors and stay healthy and injury free."

The World (Outdoor) Championships take place in Tokyo, Japan from 13 - 21 September, 2025.
