Givemore Mudzinganyama targets Two Oceans after Kazungula Marathon victory
Givemore Mudzinganyana is all set for a dream Two Oceans Marathon debut next month. This comes after the 32-year-old won the Kazungula Bridge Marathon in the time of 2:17:10 last weekend. He did the race to prepare for and test his fitness before tackling the "World’s beautiful Ultra Marathon" on the 17th of April in Cape Town. The man who joined Entsika Athletics Club in January says he is pleased with how he raced in Botswana.
"I'm happy I managed to win the race there in Botswana. It’s not an easy race especially because it was happening on a tough route which never didn’t favour fast times at all," said Mudzinganyana, who is coached by legendary athletics coach Hendrick Ramaala.
"The biggest goal was to test myself and see how ready I am to run Two Oceans next month. I never targeted a specific there plus the hot weather conditions during the race made it hard for us, especially during the last 10km. Now I can be more certain that I'm great shape and I hope to go even faster," he told #TheTopRunner.
The ASICS frontrunner says is optimistic that he can put in a good performance at Two Oceans provided he remains focussed on his training over the next six weeks.
"The most important thing at the moment is to do the final preparations for Two Oceans. I think I have done all the basics to prepare for the big day. The key factor for me is to have a strong mentality. If I tell myself that I’ll have a good run then nothing will stop me. I have big ambitions of providing solid performance at Two Oceans as it one of the races I targeted this year. So nothing has changed,” he said.
